If swearing is intended as just everyday vernacular then that's not in itself a problem. Eddie Izzard does that for example.
The problem is if the swearing itself is supposed to be the source of humour, because that's not really an adequate substitute for an innately funny situation.
There's nothing less funny or more embarassing than a comedian who expects you to laugh just because they used some swearwords. They would call it "adult" humour but it's actually rather lazy and childish.

Swearing is appropriate to the comic's personality. If you swear when telling jokes to your friends, it would be unbecoming to change your persona for the stage.
