Rise against didnt become a unique sound like LP did though, Lp is part of the nu-metal genre, and the sound has become so exhausted over the years, it was easy for LP to replicate the sound and alot of other bands did it too, and they knew this wasnt what they wanted to do anymore and they didnt want to make a trilogy of albums just like eachother. So thats why they needed to switch their sound up

Well there are always exceptions to any pattern. I don't know anything about rise against but maybe their lineup hasn't changed, and the individual musicians are very level people that don't change a lot over time. Or maybe if they have changes musicians they just did a really good job of finding ones of similar talent. I can't give you an exact answer, just that most bands change over time.
