unfortunately, artistry isn't important under the new system. it's all about technical difficulty and how well you can pull them off. michelle will really HAVE to incorporate triple-triple combinations to compete with Yuna Kim and Mao Asada (2 skaters who accomplish that task quite easily) and also just have more difficult spins and and footwork. she will have a lot going against her, primarily age and lack of experience but it'll be truly amazing if she could pull off a gold or even a medal.

what does she have to improve on to be successful under the new system? she has great artistry, spirals, and footwork sequence right? Maybe add a triple-triple at least and more difficult spins?

i just don't know if she will really be even in the Top 3 when the next Olympics come around due to her lack of competition and experience with the new system. she's only been under the system once (Worlds) i believe. as much as i really love michelle kwan, i feel that the real battle will be between Mao Asada, Miki Ando, and Yuna Kim.

She actually has not retired. She underwent hip surgery in 06 and has not competed since. She says she will announce if she plans to compete in the 2010 Olympics this year.
