Technology Management Program UCSB: Energy Peak Oil

Peak oil theory states that oil will have a beginning, middle, and an end of production, and at some point it will reach a level of maximum output. It is estimated that approximately half of all oil that will be recovered, has been recovered, and oil production may reach a peak in the near future, or perhaps already has. Then what? This speaker was actually rather boring, but informative. The Long Emergency stretches credibility&belongs on Alex Jones's show. You want information about life after peak oil, check out Richard Heinberg

Awesome video. The Long Emergency is also a great book on the subject. It will be interesting to see how the world responds to this problem. Honestly though I think we are all too individual to really pull together as a whole planet. Russia is building a pipeline to China as we speak. Countries will solve to their own problems and those who can't will become economic losers. It's sad to see these powerful topics being discussed by civilians and not the policitcal members who can resolve it.

they can't because if they do, then they are responsible for doing something about it, and the situation isn't at a bad enough level to warrant risking your political skin to do something about it.

Matthew Simmons is a terrific speaker. Very good information.

If only our presidential candidates would speak to this issue.
kkob (February 11, 2008 at 5:55 am)
This is Matt's most comprehensive presentation to date, at least that I have seen. It's perhaps a little too technical in some respects and not quite the knock-upside-the-head of some of his other presentations, but anyone who watches this and actually understands it, should have their eyes opened.

I'll be adding it to my blog. Hope you all spread the word, too.

Cheers

This video is packed with information every American should be discussing.

At least some people like Simmons still speak the truth. This is very important and we are worried about much smaller issues, such as "terrorism". I bet when we do go down the slope the "terrorists" will be able to fulfill their agenda much easier.

One of Matthew Simmons best presentations. A highly recommended reality check that should be shared by all.
