Jerry Cantrell said in a Fuse TV interview that the song was written about censorship in the media; don't know where people are getting the anti-Christian vibe from this song from.

Most actors/musicians are athiestsI personally think its because athiests and agnostics don't understand the difference between HOW and WHY, especially when applied to our creation, or the universe and anything to do with science...I have seen it in almost EVERY encounter I've had with them...They HONESTLY believe the HOW is the WHY...I just laugh at the notion of rejecting/denying a "possibility" to an answer we don't know is considered "free thinking" or the person a "Intellectual"
