Well, isn't it so that people sometimes think they are happy not to be poor that there's no war to take everything, people that are glad not to live in Africa? There are people like that!Me I'm saying too I'm happy living in a world like mine and not be poor,it doesn't mean that I'd say "Thank god it isn't me" but I think in this case, the song is saying that there are people like that, being lucky it doens't hit them that's why they are singing it,but I would never say thank god it's them and not me

Right, I'm in the Christmas mood now. I'll drink the whole fucking FAMILY under the table this year!

I always had problems with the line "Well, tonight thank God it's THEM instead of you!" What a HORRIBLE thing to say! Has anyone else ever felt this way?
It's saying, "Ooh, lucky me! I'm glad I'm not the one who's starving, or else they'd have to sing a song about ME!"

Great ideals and I have no doubt that thousands if not millions were saved. Despite the criticisms Geldof did a fantastic job. However for change, I mean real change, we must respect human rights more than nation rights. Less money should be spent on arms and more on health and education. We are after all one world under one sun and one moon, no matter what bit of dirt you live on or were born on. That is why I am a proud member of Amnesty International.

Have you noticed only white men sing in the first 2 minutes of the song. And Bananarama and Jody Watley are the only women on it. Where´s Sade, Alyson Moyet, Kim Wilde, Annie Lennox?
Paulosoy(November 22, 2008 at 6:45 pm)
Bananarama look butch at minute 1.28.
driski90(November 22, 2008 at 6:21 pm)
At 1:26 it looks like Sting is looking at Simon and asking, "Why aren't you singing?!?"
