It's a poppy, worn in remembrance of the dead from the two world wars. It is commonly worn in the weeks preceding Remembrance Day on November 11th.

maybe a silly question, but im not from england: what does the flower meaning the waer on their jackets??
i even saw this on cars in the front and other things, but only at english people...

yeah....from what I hear, he's the genuine article.
I've loved the Python (Monty) crew since the 70s when they showed up on PBS...and we had to move the TV AND the rabbit ears and that round thing with aluminum foil on it to pick up our local PBS station on UHF.
on a black and white telly as well.

and it was all worth it.
and then our dad would slice us in two with a bread knife.
