Once again the US Army proves that it can care less about the safety of our men and women in uniform. Dragon Body Armor has been tested by the FBI, CIA, many police forces and everyone in the world agrees that it is the best, except of course the US Army.In a test for the History Channel's military show, "Mail Call", the vest repelled nine rounds of pointed steel ammunition from an AK-47 and 35 rounds of 9 mm, all fired into a 10-by-12-inch configuration on the vest. In "Test Lab", also on the History Channel, the vest withstood a total of 120 rounds, fired from both an AK-47 (7.62 × 39 mm) and MP5 (9 x 19 mm). In another demonstration on the Discovery Channel series "Future Weapons", a Dragon Skin vest withstood numerous rounds from an AK-47, an MP5, and an M4 carbine (5.56 x 45 mm), and a point-blank detonation of an M67 grenade. While the vest was heavily damaged (mainly by the grenade), there was no penetration of the actual armor.
On December 7, 2006 a demonstrational shoot for the following departments took place on a 10" x 12" SOV-2000 Level III panel: Saint Charles Parish Sheriff's SWAT, Saint John's Parish Sheriff's SWAT, Gretna PD, Jefferson Parish Sheriff's SWAT, LaCruz Parish Sheriff's SWAT, Ascension Parish Sheriff's SWAT, Coast Guard Investigative Services, US Navy.
A total of 17 rounds was fired into the panel without penetration.

So why does the Army refuse military men and women to wear this? Even if they purchase it themselves?
thadude1337, Do you have any idea what you are saying? Dragon Skin is not welded together. If it was it wouldn't be flexible. in 500 degrees the person in it would be dead.

how could it get worse test results when ur not talking extreme heat like 500 degrees.....celsius and ceramics r used in Tungsten Inert Gas welding and the place its used at is where its very hot like 2000 degrees.....celsius SOOO HOW COULD 50 F MAKE ANY DIFFERENCE. and it is still that good a LVL 5 now how... many... other... body armor systems ARE there? i would use it

Thats not capitalism. Its government controlling the market, not allowing corporate competition, but shutting down free market by abusing their governmental powers. The REMF that made the decision to outlaw dragonskin went on to work for the company that makes the Interceptor a few months later. Thats true socialism my friend. Not to mention white collar crime.

golfingrobert, you idiot. The Kalashnikov 47 or AK-47 does NOT shoot the NATO round. It shoots the 7.62 X 39MM round. The NATO round is the 7.62 X 51MM NATO. By the way the NATO version was created long after the Russian Kalashnikov 47 was created.

What they don't tell you is that when in areas with very high heat like Iraq the adhesives that keep the "scales" together melt and all the plates fall to the bottom of the armor. That is why Dragon Skin was not adopted by the US army.

7.62 NATO is 7.62 X 51 the 39MM isn't a NATO round.

dragon skin can stop bullets and even grenades, but in hot weather, wet weather, and prety well anything but just cool mild weather it sucks. in 104 degree weather, an independant testing company shot an ak47 7.62x39 nato round at it and went STRAIGHT THROUGH IT!!!

Dragon skin - is superior for stopping lots of bullet, but is it durable! this armor need to be proven in all setting(Jungle, Desert, and etc.)P.S - would dragon skin fall apart in prolong used, in jungle, desert, and etc you name it. Just because it stop lots of bullet doesn't mean it's the best!
