Well,he does have a huge painting of happy plantation dwellers in his coffee house in Santa Monica. I always suspected that he tried some similar role-playing with his black girlfriends. He's actually rather uncomfortably patronizing in the way he always gloms onto black culture. But an island empire? Uh,I doubt it...
